Last year, Heather and Will tied the knot in April. We had the joy of photographing their sunflower wedding at Twisted Ranch in Bertram. As soon as Heather got their full wedding gallery back from us, I had the sweetest note in my inbox from her that said she was already thinking of ways to get in front of the camera again! So, she has been planning their first anniversary session for about the last year! Here is a peek at their Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos.
Will took Heather to the “Top of The World” when it was time to propose to his high school sweetheart. They love traveling to new places in their FJ Cruiser and were on such a trip in Moab, Utah. At the end of the trail (Top of the World), Will and Heather climbed on top of their vehicle to take a picture. While the cameras were still snapping, Will got down on one knee and asked Heather to be his wife! She said yes! That story was one of the reasons that we knew we would be such a great fit with these two! Dylan and I had just gotten back from a similar trip to Ouray, Colorado and enjoyed hearing their stories of where they had gone. They didn’t even hold it against us that we were Jeep people! (Although, we’re NOW in a Toyota….)
Since these two are PROS and have been in front of my camera twice already, they totally rocked their Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos! They know all the secrets with posing and didn’t need any sort of “warm-up.” The very first image in this post was the very first image off the camera! WOW!
Can we take a minute to appreciate Heather’s dresses?!?! You’ve only seen two so far, but I loved all THREE of them! One of the perks of feeling comfortable in front of my camera already is that there was time for three outfits! She rented two from Rent The Runway, if you’re still looking for something to wear to your engagement or anniversary session. Try it out!
When you’re having your Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos taken and one of the gardens is empty, you take advantage of that time! I still can’t believe we had this section to ourselves!
This is one of my favorites! Y’all are so smiley!!
Heather and Will brought one of their framed Twisted Ranch wedding photos to their session. It will be so cute to have anniversary photos taken every year with the frame holding the photo from the year before!
Here’s dress #3!! Isn’t it beautiful?! Blue is absolutely Heather’s color! Not only was it one of their wedding colors, but it is also the color of her eyes! If you’re not sure what color to wear to your engagement photos, think like Heather and pick something that will accentuate your eyes!
If you look behind Heather and Will in this next photo, you’ll see that the background has gone a greenish haze. That’s because a storm was blowing in! We had already had to postpone their Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos once due to weather. When it was supposed to be stormy, again, on day two, Heather said they would risk it, as it was supposed to be raining on their wedding day, as well, and those photos turned out great! So, they made the crazy drive up from Corpus for their session! The crazy part is that I asked them to meet me there early as there was a two hour window when the rain was only at a 10% chance. On either side of that two hours, the weather was predicting thunderstorms! The weather service even made a radio broadcast to get off the road (while I was driving to their session), as a severe thunderstorm with hail was approaching!
Will – this is my favorite shot of you from your Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos session!
So, after it started raining and we had photographed all the dresses, we called the session and started to walk back to the entrance. I had already packed up my camera. Then, I turned and saw THIS!! The sun had FINALLY come out and was peeking through, even though it was raining on us! These two are such troopers and allowed me to continue photographing them in the rain! Honestly, my favorite shots are always the ones that *almost* don’t happen, like these next few! If you look closely, you can see the rain drops against the trees and on Will’s jacket. #worthit!! That glow is my favorite!
Heather and Will – THANK YOU for allowing me to take your Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center anniversary photos! I had so much fun with y’all and loved being able to catch up with the two of you! I really hope we get to do this every year! Hopefully, next time y’all won’t have to make the drive from and back to Corpus on the same day! I’m so impressed that y’all were that excited for these, though! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
